This is stunning. The 16th amendment has transmogrified into a Frankenstein. The tax code is so complicated there are more folks who make a living preparing taxes than there are  police and firefighters COMBINED.

“Up to 1.2 million tax preparers make a living navigating the labyrinth US tax code for taxpayers. We have more professional tax preparers in the United States than law enforcement officers (765,000) and professional firefighters (310,400) combined.”

With over 72,500 pages of tax law, our present tax code is indeed a government made monster that needs killing. Its gonna get worse too. The so-called patient protection and affordable care act provides a means for the IRS to hire upwards of 16,500 new employees. Anyone who has dealt with the IRS knows you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent. And even then you’re not innocent because somewhere in the 72,500 pages of law, the IRS always finds some way to pick your pocket. It’s a reprehensible Gestapo of a bureaucracy that  is both tenacious and vindictive.  Full disclosure … I have been audited every year for the past 6 years and every time these wretched parasites harassed me, they have compounded the already confiscatory sum I paid with other taxes, disallowed expenses and are at the ready to impose fees and penalty. It is impossible to escape the pickpockets of the IRS. Once your on their radar, they hound you relentlessly.

It doesn’t have to be like this. Several times over the last 20 years we have had politicians talk of a flat tax, or a fair tax. One guy ( Former Senator John Breaux) had the audacity to forward a tax reform plan where  he claimed you can file on a postcard. These proposals  always die. Know why?  Because taxation is one path the government uses for the socialist notion of distributive justice. The IRS has the power to pick winners and losers in our system. The power of taxation is so great, the chief justice used it as the guillotine to decapitate the finest health care delivery system the world  has ever known. That decision set precedent to allow the congress to tax any activity or inactivity. Just by calling something a tax, congress can confiscate any sum for any purpose according to the roberts ruling.

The waste, fraud and abuse of our tax dollars are well known. Senator Tom Coburn compiles a good collection of the most outrageous in his “wastebook” file.

Read it at your own risk.

That don’t even account for the wasted billions on cronie capitalism distributed by the administration to FAILED “green” energy scams:

Evergreen Solar
Solyndra (received $535 million)
Beacon Power (received $43 million)
AES’ subsidiary Eastern Energy
Nevada Geothermal (received $98.5 million)
SunPower (received $1.5 billion)
First Solar (received $1.46 billion)
Babcock & Brown (an Australian company which received $178 million)
Ener1 (subsidiary EnerDel received $118.5 million)
Amonix (received 5.9 million)
The National Renewable Energy Lab
Fisker Automotive
Abound Solar (received $400 million)

Solar Trust of America
A123 Systems (received $279 million)
Willard & Kelsey Solar Group (received $6 million)
Johnson Controls (received $299 million)
Schneider Electric (received $86 million)

Corrupt and wasteful, the remorseless expansion of the tax code continues apace, Just like Dr. Frankensteins’ monster.
